S 1532 New Jersey Senate · 2026-2027 Regular Session

Establishes immunity for youth sports leagues and senior planned real estate development associations relating to COVID-19.

This bill provides legal immunity from civil lawsuits for youth sports leagues and senior housing associations (age-restricted planned real estate developments) related to COVID-19 exposure during their activities. It protects these organizations and their members, employees, and agents from liability for injuries or deaths caused by COVID-19 during youth sports events, facility management, or common area maintenance, retroactive to March 9, 2020. The immunity does not cover gross negligence, fraud, willful misconduct, or criminal acts. It applies in addition to any existing legal protections available to these groups. The bill specifically defines "youth sports league" as nonprofit, municipal, or county-run leagues and "age-restricted development" as communities meeting federal housing standards for older residents.
