Requires Secretary of State and county commissioners of registration to perform audit of voter registration records in Statewide Voter Registration System.
This bill requires New Jersey's Secretary of State and county election officials to conduct a 90-day audit of voter registration records in the Statewide Voter Registration System. The audit must identify: (1) ineligible voters who successfully registered, (2) attempts by ineligible voters to register (even if unsuccessful), and (3) whether current procedures for removing ineligible voters are effective. Officials must jointly develop uniform audit methods and submit findings with recommendations to the Governor and Legislature within 30 days of completion. The law takes effect immediately.
