Allows resident school districts to provide payments in-lieu-of transportation to parents of county vocational school district pupils.
This bill allows New Jersey school districts to pay parents directly instead of providing transportation for students attending county vocational schools or the Marine Academy of Science and Technology. Specifically, if a student lives more than 2.5 miles from the school, the resident district may choose to give an annual payment to the parent (using the same amount as current law for transportation aid) rather than arrange transportation. The payment amount is based on existing rules from P.L.1981, c.57. This change applies to all students in county vocational programs, including those at the Marine Academy in Monmouth County.
