Revises provisions of State law concerning licensure of ambulatory care facility.
What changed between versions
The exemption for small surgical practices (one operating room, no more than two physicians) from the ambulatory care facility assessment is now permanent. Previously, the exemption was set to expire after State Fiscal Year 2025, with the practice becoming subject to the assessment starting in FY2026. The sunset language was removed entirely.
A bill statement was added explaining that the act removes a statutory restriction preventing new licenses for ambulatory care facilities proposing relocation to provide surgical services unless the move is within 20 miles of the current location or into a Health Enterprise Zone.
Two co-sponsors (Assemblywoman Carol A. Murphy, District 7, and Assemblywoman Marisa Sweeney, District 25) were removed from the bill.
Cross-reference corrected from P.L.2025, c.70, s.1 to P.L. 2018, c.283, s.1, and 'et al.' was changed to the correct legal term 'et seq.' throughout.
