New Jersey's S 884 helps National Guard and Reserve members who couldn't complete police or firefighter hiring due to military service. It places their names on the next available hiring list in score order if they served 30+ days after 9/11/2001 during specified military operations (Operation Enduring Freedom or Freedom’s Sentinel). The bill also ensures those who met age requirements when taking the civil service exam won't be disqualified later due to age. This applies to individuals who passed the exam but were delayed by active duty.
