Restricts certain billing practices for early intervention program services.
This bill prohibits health care providers from billing patients for early intervention services more than one year after the service was provided or attempting to collect on such bills. It also prevents providers from charging patients for the remaining balance if an insurance claim was denied or partially paid, when the claim was submitted more than one year after the service, or submitted within one year but over 18 months had passed since the service. The bill applies to New Jersey's early intervention program, which supports infants and toddlers with developmental delays or disabilities. Providers may still seek reimbursement from health insurance at any time, but cannot bill patients for uncovered costs under the specified timeframes.
