Authorizes establishment of charter school payment reserve account in school districts.
This bill allows New Jersey school districts to establish a "charter school payment reserve account" to cover unexpected increases in payments to charter schools. If a district budgets less than the projected payment amount based on initial enrollment, the reserve can fund the difference when actual enrollment (as of October 15) requires higher payments. The reserve account cannot exceed 15% of the total projected payments for the school year. Districts may fund the reserve through annual budget appropriations or year-end transfers of unspent revenue, and they can transfer interest earned to their general fund.
