Requires State to provide recipients of State tax refunds, unemployment insurance benefits and State employee compensation certain payment options.
This bill requires New Jersey to give state employees, tax refund recipients, and unemployment insurance claimants the option to receive payments as paper checks. State agencies must provide written notice of payment choices (paper check, direct deposit, or prepaid debit card) and require a signed form to select a method. Employees can request paper checks in writing, and unemployment claimants can change their payment method at any time. Taxpayers will also be offered paper checks for state tax refunds instead of direct deposit or debit cards.
