This bill requires New Jersey's Office of Information Technology to create minimum security standards for protecting government data. It mandates that state agencies, local governments (counties/municipalities), school boards, and courts follow these standards or develop equivalent ones based on the sensitivity of the information they handle. The standards aim to prevent unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction of personal or confidential data. The law takes effect immediately but gives all affected entities 180 days to implement the requirements.
