This bill requires health insurance plans in New Jersey to cover hearing aids for all ages, removing a previous restriction that limited coverage to people 15 years or younger. It applies to various health insurance plans including hospital service corporations, medical service corporations, health maintenance organizations, and the State Health Benefits Program. The coverage must include hearing aids for each ear when medically necessary as prescribed by a physician or audiologist, with a $1,000 limit per hearing aid per ear every 24 months. Individuals may choose more expensive hearing aids and pay the difference without penalty to the provider. This change will apply to all health benefits plans issued or renewed 90 days after the bill's enactment.
