AB 124 requires most elected officials to resign their current position before filing for another elective office, unless their current term ends within 12 months of the filing deadline. Exceptions include individuals already permitted under existing law (NRS 281.055) to hold multiple offices (e.g., special district and state offices), and all judges (Supreme Court, appellate, district, justice of the peace, or municipal judges). The rule applies to officials serving on or after October 1, 2025, and automatically deems an official resigned if they fail to step down before filing. This bill modifies current restrictions on holding multiple elected offices without changing the existing exceptions for specific roles.
