Interim study to examine the Livestock Brand Act and the role and mission of the Nebraska Brand Committee

This resolution (LR 280) proposes an interim study to examine Nebraska's Livestock Brand Act and the Nebraska Brand Committee. The study will compare Nebraska's livestock branding system with those in other states, assess whether the current system remains necessary and valuable to the cattle industry, and evaluate costs, e-inspection implementation, and the committee's long-term financial health. It does not change any laws but will gather data from stakeholders to determine if revisions could reduce unnecessary burdens. The Agriculture Committee will conduct the study and report findings and recommendations to the Legislature.
