Modifies provisions relating to the operation of, and investment of moneys by, certain hospitals
HB 271 modifies Missouri hospital investment rules and expansion restrictions. It increases the allowable percentage of hospital funds that can be invested in stocks, bonds, or money market funds from 25% to 50%, while requiring remaining funds to be invested as the state treasurer may. The law applies only to hospitals receiving less than 3% of annual revenue from government taxes or appropriations. It also updates rules governing hospital expansion into new areas, removing certain restrictions on related facilities and health care activities outside a hospital's primary location.
