Prohibits the filing of spurious documents or spurious liens

This bill updates Missouri laws to help government officials identify and block the filing of fake or groundless legal documents and liens. It gives state and local employees the authority to reject documents they reasonably believe are spurious and protects them from liability when making that decision. The law also limits how long a rejected lien can stay on property, requiring a court lawsuit to begin within 35 days to keep it active. Additionally, it creates a process for property owners to petition a court for an order to stop the enforcement of a lien they believe is invalid.
