Authorizes a tax credit for employers purchasing state-owned vehicles to transport employees who are on probation or parole
This bill creates a tax incentive for Missouri employers to buy state-owned vehicles specifically to transport employees who are on probation or parole to and from their workplaces. To qualify for the credit, an employer must hire a full-time employee who has completed a vocational training program approved by the Department of Corrections and keep them employed for at least twelve consecutive months. Each eligible vehicle purchase allows the employer to claim up to $1,000 in tax credits, but a single company can receive no more than five credits per year, and the total amount available to all businesses statewide is capped at $75,000 annually. Employers must provide proof of the vehicle purchase, mileage logs showing transportation of eligible workers, and documentation of the employee's certification to claim the benefit. The program is set to automatically expire six years after it begins unless the legislature passes a law to extend it.
