HB 2424 Missouri House · 2024 Regular Session

Prohibits public funding of pharmacy benefits managers

This bill prohibits the use of public funds to pay for services provided by pharmacy benefits managers in Missouri. It also restricts these managers from requiring patients to pay more at the pharmacy counter than the lower of their plan's copayment or the cash price of the drug. Additionally, the law allows pharmacies to inform patients about cheaper alternative drugs without going through the manager and bans managers from charging fees for claims that are not yet finalized. The legislation excludes federal programs like Medicare and self-funded employer plans, while requiring managers to disclose any financial conflicts of interest to health insurers.
