Creates provisions relating to perinatal care

This bill requires health care professionals providing maternity services to screen all pregnant women for mental disorders and illnesses using validated tools. The screenings must occur as early as possible at the start of prenatal care and continue throughout all three trimesters of pregnancy. If a provider identifies a woman who needs help but is not currently being treated, the bill mandates that they either provide treatment or refer the patient to appropriate care. Additionally, the state health department must create and publish guidelines for treating mental health conditions during pregnancy, while ensuring all patient confidentiality laws remain intact.
