Requires approval by the general assembly before the construction of certain electrical transmission lines

HB 1752 requires electrical corporations to obtain specific approval from the state General Assembly before building new high-voltage electrical transmission lines. This rule applies to any line capable of carrying more than 230 kilovolts of electricity or structures containing lines that total more than 230 kilovolts combined. Before construction can begin, the company must also get permission from the state commission, which will only grant it if the project is deemed necessary for public service. The bill does not affect smaller energy generation units or lower-voltage lines, which continue to require only commission approval.
