Podiatric medicine and podiatrists; revise certain definitions related thereto.

SB 2762 revises Mississippi's legal definition of podiatric medicine to explicitly include treatment of the foot, ankle, and related structures (such as lower leg muscles/tendons up to the tibial tubercle). It clarifies that podiatrists - defined as physicians specializing in this field - may perform both conservative and surgical treatments for these areas, subject to training standards set by the Mississippi State Board of Medical Licensure. The bill requires the Board to create rules about required training and licensure, effective July 1, 2025. This bill died in committee on February 4, 2025, and did not become law.
