SB 2722 would require Mississippi to set aside $10 million annually from federal TANF funds for grants to 501(c)(3) nonprofits providing marriage counseling and support services specifically to military families (including all branches and reserves) and first responder families (firefighters, EMTs, law enforcement, etc.). The bill mandates this funding be used to supplement, not replace, existing programs. It would direct the State Department of Human Services to develop rules for awarding these grants. However, the bill died in committee on February 4, 2025, and has not become law.
