SB 2587 would create Mississippi's State Truth Commission, a five-member body appointed by the Governor (with Senate approval), to investigate racial grievances in state and local government programs. The commission would collect complaints, conduct interviews and site visits, advise on diversity policies, and recommend changes to address past racial issues. It would have authority to request information from state agencies, issue subpoenas, and establish procedures for reviewing grievances. The bill died in committee on February 4, 2025, and was never enacted.
