Business fraud; authorize Secretary of State to take additional measures to prevent.

SB 2420 allows current occupants of a residence listed as a business's registered office address to request its removal from public records if the business no longer uses it as the agent's residence or if the occupant didn't consent to its use. To initiate removal, the occupant must submit a signed, sworn form to the Secretary of State confirming they live at the address, the business isn't associated with it, and the address is being used without permission. The Secretary must then contact the business to update its registered agent and remove the residence address from public records. The bill also extends the time the Secretary of State has to return rejected business filings from 10 to 30 days. It takes effect July 1, 2025.
