HB 891 requires Mississippi courts to assess six months before a bail bond expires whether renewal is necessary. If a defendant fails to renew a bond that the court has determined requires renewal, they must be returned to custody. The sheriff is directed to return such defendants to the court for non-renewal. This bill amends Mississippi Code Sections 99-5-5 and 99-5-15 to clarify bail bond renewal procedures and consequences for non-compliance.
