County sheriffs; authorize use of radar speed detection equipment under certain conditions.

HB 1089 proposed to allow county sheriffs and deputies in Mississippi to use radar speed detection equipment on county roads, provided their county board of supervisors approves the use by majority vote and records the decision. This would expand existing exceptions (which currently cover municipal police in larger cities, campus police, and the Highway Patrol) to include county law enforcement. The bill required boards to formally approve and document radar use, with the Mississippi Highway Safety Patrol to be notified of road blockages on highways. The bill died in committee on February 4, 2025, and did not become law.
