Statute of limitations elimination for causes of action on gender-affirming care for minor children

This bill removes the standard four-year time limit for filing medical malpractice lawsuits involving gender-affirming care for minors in Minnesota. It defines gender-affirming care specifically as medical or surgical interventions, such as hormone therapy or puberty blockers, intended to affirm a minor's perceived gender identity. Consequently, patients or former patients can file these specific claims at any time, regardless of when the alleged error occurred. The law applies only to cases involving minor children and does not change the statute of limitations for other types of medical malpractice.
