The screening must include a review of personal and family medical history, physical examination findings, and referrals to cardiologists for any positive results, with screenings occurring at least three months before the athletic season starts. The law also extends these prescreenings to all students through annual well-child visits and mandates that schools distribute educational materials to parents about sudden cardiac arrest and heart failure.
