SF 4269 Minnesota Senate · 2025-2026 Regular Session

City of Coon Rapids impose a local sales tax authorization

This bill authorizes the City of Coon Rapids to impose a local sales tax of up to 0.5% if approved by voters in a special election. The revenue from this tax would be used to fund $80 million in projects, including renovations to the police department and city center, as well as construction of a new community center and expansion of the Coon Rapids Ice Center. The city could also issue up to $80 million in bonds to help finance these projects, with the tax revenue serving as a source of repayment. The tax would automatically expire after 25 years or earlier if the city determines sufficient funds have been collected to cover all project costs and debt service.
