Crimes committed after unlawful reentry of for the benefit of a transnational crime organization penalty increase

SF 321 increases penalties for certain crimes committed after unlawful reentry into Minnesota or for the benefit of a transnational crime organization. It adds five years to the maximum sentence for most crimes committed under these circumstances, and ten years if the victim is a child under 18. The bill defines "transnational crime organization" as groups routinely involved in international drug, human, or weapon trafficking. It applies to crimes committed on or after August 1, 2025, and affects individuals who reenter Minnesota after being deported for a felony or while a deportation order was active.
