Lessees of certain property to request property tax statements authorization

This bill (SF 1448) allows renters (lessees) of residential property in specific small cities to request property tax statements directly from county auditors. It applies to tenants in cities with 940-960 residents (2020 census) located in counties with 190,000-210,000 residents. To receive tax notices, renters must register their name and address with the county auditor in the property’s county. The provision takes effect for 2026 property taxes and modifies existing tax statutes to enable this access.
