The substitute version of HB 5845 modifies the electronic poll book flash drive preservation requirement in Section 811(4). Instead of requiring that the physical flash drives themselves be preserved and then destroyed after 22 months, the bill now requires that all data on the drives be preserved for 22 months, after which the data may be erased and the physical drive reused. This is a practical change that maintains the same data retention period while allowing counties to reuse hardware rather than discard it.
