Housing: other; redemption of premises; modify. Amends secs. 48g & 48i of 1966 PA 346 (MCL 125.1448g & 125.1448i).

Section 48g(3) now requires that an affidavit under MCL 600.3240(2) of the Revised Judicature Act be recorded with the deed of sale, adding a new documentation requirement for the register of deeds.

Section 48g(4) (now subsection 5) now explicitly states that if a deed is recorded within 20 days, interest on the bid amount runs from the date of the sale and the redemption period runs from the date of the sale. Previously it only said these 'begin' without specifying the start date.

Section 48g(5) (new subsection) now explicitly states that if a deed is NOT recorded within 20 days, interest begins on the date the deed is recorded and the redemption period begins on the date the deed is recorded. Previously it only said these 'apply' on that date.

Section 48i(1) and 48i(2) both removed the sentence stating 'Notwithstanding this subsection, interest on the sum that was bid begins to accrue after the date the deed was recorded.' This removes a contradictory exception that previously delayed interest until recording. Interest now consistently runs from the date of sale, meaning redeemers owe more interest if the deed recording is delayed.
