Townships: public services; certain townships to purchase, own, or operate a public service facility; provide for. Amends 1846 RS 16 (MCL 41.1a - 41.110c) by adding sec. 2b.

This bill allows specific Michigan townships with populations between 10,000 and 15,000, located in highly populated counties, to purchase, own, or operate bridges and related transportation infrastructure. Under the new rules, these townships can charge user fees, such as tolls, to cover the costs of maintaining and operating these facilities. Additionally, to qualify for state and federal funding, any township that owns or operates such a bridge must implement an inspection program that meets federal safety standards. The legislation defines "public service facility" broadly to include the bridge itself, supporting roadways, and all necessary equipment or structures required for its operation.
