Education: graduation requirements; completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by pupils; require as condition of graduation. Amends 1976 PA 451 (MCL 380.1 - 380.1852) by adding sec. 1278e.

Students who cannot complete the form due to parental refusal, unresponsiveness, or other hardships may receive an exemption if a school administrator verifies that reasonable efforts were made to assist them. The legislation also mandates that schools provide informational packets to students before their twelfth grade year to explain the benefits of the FAFSA and the opt-out process. Additionally, school districts must report data on waiver usage to the state department annually, and the department will publish statistics on FAFSA completion and waiver rates on its website.
