It also prohibits insurers from denying enrollment based on a child's birth outside of wedlock, failure to be claimed on a tax return, or non-residence with the parent. Additionally, the legislation bans lifetime and annual dollar limits on essential health benefits for most individual and small group plans while mandating coverage for specific services like mental health care, prescription drugs, and preventive screenings.
