HB 6207 Michigan House · 2023-2024 Regular Session

Education: other; reporting of immunization status; modify. Amends sec. 167 of 1979 PA 94 (MCL 388.1767).

This bill requires Michigan school districts to report the immunization status of new students to local health departments twice each year, once in November and again in February. It mandates that districts submit data on students in kindergarten through 12th grade who enrolled for the first time or entered seventh grade during the previous school year. If a district fails to maintain immunization records for at least 90% of new students in the November report or 95% in the February report, the state will withhold 5% of the district's funding until compliance is achieved. The withheld funds are permanently lost if the district does not meet the requirements by the end of the fiscal year, though this penalty does not apply to the 2020-2021 school year.
