Health occupations: pharmacists; availability of prescription readers; require. Amends 1978 PA 368 (MCL 333.1101 - 333.25211) by adding sec. 17756a.
This bill requires pharmacies in Michigan to inform customers that prescription readers are available upon request. If a customer identifies as blind, visually impaired, or print disabled, the pharmacy must provide an appropriate device to read prescription labels for the duration of their medication supply. The law also mandates that prescription labels be compatible with these reading devices, while excluding pharmacies located within healthcare facilities that dispense drugs for inpatient use. Additionally, the state board of pharmacy is authorized to create rules to implement these requirements.
