The law includes specific exceptions allowing entry without announcement if there is an immediate threat to life, evidence suggests occupants are aware of the officers' presence, or announcing identity would hinder the investigation. When seeking authorization for these exceptions, officers must include details about known occupants, any disabilities, and animals in the warrant application.
