Water supply: systems; authority as municipal authority; modify. Amends sec. 2a, ch. IV of 1927 PA 175 (MCL 764.2a).

This bill expands the authority for local law enforcement officers in Michigan to pursue and detain individuals who violate state or local laws immediately after crossing jurisdictional boundaries. It specifically allows peace officers from counties, cities, townships, public airport authorities, and qualified authorities to act outside their usual areas when enforcing laws alongside state police, coordinating with other local officers, or chasing suspects who commit violations before leaving their jurisdiction. The legislation also permits these officers to stop vessels on state waters to enforce applicable laws during such pursuits. Additionally, the bill clarifies that the geographic boundaries of a qualified authority include any county, city, village, or township that contracts with the authority for water, sewage disposal, or waste management services.
