Drains: other; representation of communities on certain intercounty drainage boards; provide for. Amends sec. 514 of 1956 PA 40 (MCL 280.514).
This bill modifies the composition of intercounty drainage boards in Michigan to include local community representatives in specific situations. It requires that when a drainage project involves a large county with an appointed drain commissioner, the board must include an elected official or their designee from each city, village, or township that will pay fees for the project. These new members would serve two-year terms and help ensure that municipalities directly affected by the drainage work have a voice on the board. The changes apply only to projects meeting particular criteria regarding county population, election status of drain commissioners, and the number of involved municipalities.
