Health occupations: other; certain esthetician and cosmetologist services; exempt from the practice of medicine and osteopathic medicine and surgery. Amends 1978 PA 368 (MCL 333.1101 - 333.25211) by adding sec. 16276a.
This bill amends Michigan's public health code to regulate medical exfoliation procedures, which include dermaplaning and microdermabrasion. It requires that anyone performing these treatments must do so under the supervision of a licensed physician, except for the physicians themselves. Additionally, the law mandates that patients must give their informed consent before undergoing these procedures. The bill does not take effect unless another related bill is also passed into law.
