Amendment S.3252

This bill amends Massachusetts alcohol laws to allow local licensing authorities to grant temporary licenses for the sale of alcoholic beverages at charity auctions and on-premises events. It specifically authorizes nonprofit charitable corporations, as well as joint applicants including nonprofits and existing licensees, to hold these sales for up to 20 days per year. The legislation permits individuals and licensed beverage manufacturers or sellers to donate alcohol to these events without charge, with the requirement that all or a majority of the proceeds be used for charitable purposes. Additionally, it establishes licensing provisions for professional auctioneers who have been in business for at least ten years, allowing them to sell beverages not intended for on-premises consumption and offer limited free tastings to prospective buyers.
