An Act authorizing ranked choice voting in the town of Brookline

HD 4570 requires the Town of Brookline to use ranked choice voting for all town-wide elections, including annual and special elections. Voters will rank candidates in order of preference (1, 2, 3, etc.), and if no candidate achieves a majority in the first count, the candidate with the fewest votes is eliminated, with their votes transferred to the next ranked preference on each ballot. This applies to single-seat races with more than two candidates and multi-seat races with more candidates than seats available.
