An Act to ensure a complete, accurate, and equitable census count

HD 2794 establishes a 29-member Massachusetts Census Equity Commission to improve census accuracy, focusing on undercounted communities including people of color, immigrants, homeless individuals, low-income residents, and rural populations. The commission will develop targeted outreach programs - using schools, community partnerships, and multilingual campaigns - to increase participation and address barriers in these communities. At least 40% of funds for these outreach efforts must be directed to undercounted communities. The commission will coordinate with state agencies, meet regularly, and report to the governor and legislature before each census.
