An Act relative to the sale of nitrous oxide

The law requires authorized sellers to verify that buyers are at least 21 years old with valid photo ID, keep products behind the counter, and post warning signs about the dangers of recreational use. Penalties for violations include fines ranging from $1,000 for a first offense to $5,000 for subsequent offenses, with each day of continued violation counted as a separate offense. Exceptions are made for nitrous oxide used in food products and when administered by licensed medical or dental professionals.
