An Act relative to the recall of any holder of elective office in the city of Chicopee

HD 4704 allows Chicopee voters to remove elected city officials through a recall process. Registered voters can initiate a recall by filing an affidavit with 2,000 signatures for at-large offices or 500 signatures from the official's ward. If verified signatures meet 25% of registered voters in the ward or city, the City Council must order a recall election within 90 days, unless another election occurs within 100 days. The bill prohibits recalls within 6 months of taking office or the final 6 months of a term, and bars new recall attempts within 3 months of a previous failed effort.
