To initiate a recall, 10 registered voters file an affidavit with the town clerk, leading to a petition requiring 100 voter signatures within 20 days; the town verifies signatures within 14 days, and if valid, a recall election is held within 60-90 days (or combined with an existing election). Voters decide whether to remove the official, and if recalled, the top candidate wins the remaining term; the official cannot be recalled again for 12 months or appointed to town office for one year after removal. The bill applies to all current and future Lanesborough elected officials.
