An Act authorizing Thomas Struthers to purchase creditable service from the Massachusetts teachers’ retirement board
This bill authorizes the Massachusetts Teachers’ Retirement Board to grant Thomas Struthers (a Shawsheen Valley Regional Vocational Technical High School teacher) credit for 3 years of prior service (1983-2000) in his teaching field. To receive this credit for calculating his retirement allowance, Struthers must pay the retirement system the amount that would have been deducted from his salary during those years, plus buyback interest. The bill specifically applies only to Struthers’ retirement calculation and does not affect any other retirement benefits he may be eligible for.
