An Act relative to dropout prevention and student recovery

This bill amends state law to require all children under 18 who have not graduated from high school to attend school and repeals an outdated statute. It establishes a competitive, three-year pilot program funded by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education to help school districts with dropout rates above the state average. The program provides grants for evidence-based strategies such as alternative education, graduation coaching, outreach to students who have already dropped out, and support for expectant and parenting students. Participating districts and agencies must submit annual reports on student progress, and a final report will be issued after the pilot period to determine if the program should be expanded or continued.
