An Act authorizing common sense health services in assisted living

This bill allows assisted living facilities in Massachusetts to provide specific basic health services to residents, such as injections, oxygen management, and glucose monitoring. To offer these services, facilities must submit an approved operating plan detailing staff qualifications and training, ensuring that licensed or registered nurses are available for consultation at all times. The legislation also requires sponsors to clearly disclose associated fees in residency agreements and allows residents to stop these services without paying cancellation fees. Additionally, the state Department of Elder Affairs will create regulations to oversee the program and may charge facilities an annual fee for this oversight.
