An Act to build future-forward parking structures to promote EV equity and walkable downtowns

This bill creates a state funding program to help Massachusetts cities and towns build or upgrade parking garages with electric vehicle charging stations. To receive financial assistance, municipalities must submit a plan that reduces surface parking, offers affordable charging to residents in dense neighborhoods, supports new housing and transit growth, and improves walkable street design. The state will reimburse local governments for their share of project costs, with the reimbursement rate varying based on the community's median income.
